Microsoft Word – why does it mess with my headings?

When I add a page break in a Word document and then type in a heading (with heading 1 style), why is the page break symbol on the previous page glued to my heading by having the same style? And then, when I delete that page break later, why does it mess up the formatting of my heading? Why oh why?

USB Mass Storage Device removal

I use a little Sandisk Cruzer USB flash drive. Whenever I want to take it out of my Windows XP machine, it says, “The device ‘Generic volume’ cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later.” Why doesn’t it tell me why not? Like maybe saying, “The device has these files open…” or “these applications are running from the device…” I end up yanking it out anyway between blinks of the activity light. oh well.

Why CC yourself?

Why do some people put their own e-mail addresses in the CC field of an e-mail? This always makes me wonder. Maybe it gives them reassurance that the message was received if a copy comes back? I just can’t figure out why you would want two copies of the same message: one in your sent box, and one in your inbox. Do you CC yourself? If so, WHY?
